Pam was born in Panama, Iowa to Bob and Millie (Bryan) Schomer. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Panama. She went on to attend and graduate from Mercy College of Nursing in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was a lifelong Registered Nurse, who dedicated her life to serving others through her profession. Five Registered Nurses, dressed in the nurse’s caps and capes, honored her memory in a ceremony at Pam’s life celebration on April 18, 2017. More than 25 members of our Court #330 were also there to pray The Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary for our CDA sister, along with her family and many friends.

Pam was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Council Bluffs. At the time of her death she was serving our court as Church Rep for St. Patrick’s. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society there. She was also a long serving member of the Sewing and Quilting groups at St. Patrick’s. Along with other CDA members she could be found there on Wednesday mornings making lap robes and walker bags for local nursing homes. The crafters also make items for all ages that are sold at craft sales throughout the year, the proceeds are then used to buy material and supplies and given in donation. Quilts are raffled off at the annual St. Patrick’s festival. This group of busy hands donates to Micah House, Red Cross, Immanuel Pathways, Mohm’s Place and includes items in Christmas baskets that are distributed by Community of Christ Church.

Pam very often delivered carloads of Gift in Kind items and other offerings from our court to various charities and organizations. She collected pop tabs for The McDonald House. She was a constantly loyal helper at our annual Salad Luncheons each July.  She kept a vigilant eye on the dessert tables and helped with set-up and clean-up. Then she would deliver extra salads from the luncheon to the local shelter. She regularly attended events held at Gabriel’s Corner and supported the efforts of that organization in prayer and service as a counselor. These are just some of Pam’s charitable activities.

Pam was blessed with four children, Cathy Justice of Omaha, NE, Jody Ratigan (Alan Muenzenmay) of Clive, IA, John Ratigan (Tomoe) of Tokyo, JAPAN, and Chris Ratigan (Michele) of Overland Park, KS.  Pam enjoyed her 10 grandchildren, Audra (Chris) Justice Antes, Kaitlyn Justice, Emma Justice, Gus and Augie Muenzenmay, Jack and Ella Ratigan, Casey, Mairi and Alina Ratigan, and two great-grandchildren, Genevieve and Noah Antes. Pam is also survived by her brothers Terry Schomer and Craig Schomer (Colorado) and sister Gwen Mann (Woodbine, IA). She will be missed.

We honor the memory of our CDA sister, Pam Ratigan †

May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen
